Schizophrenia…

We had dropped the schizophrenia idea a while back when we had finally decided what route/ story our film would take but as we were editing today we felt as though there was something missing.. the voices in her head.

Schizophrenia is an inherent condition which on average appears during a persons twenties, one of its main causes being stress. We thought this was a very apt topic to be researching at this time given our age and the fact we are in our first year of uni.

The static noise in our film wasn’t doing much to help with the overall story which was kindly pointed out to us by Mike, so adding the voices along with the current track seemed to fit well and helped to explain more to the audience what exactly was going on with this character inside her head, where the storyline was going and why she was cutting her face.

Here is the final edit of our film, we decided to change the temperature of some scenes to help with the audience response

today was spent working with our perception film and adding the needed filters and syncing up the audio, the previous audio we had planned on using, the static sound, wasn’t really working so we’ve ended up recording our own version of the ‘What Schizophrenia sounds like’ track and added that on top of the static noise – both tracks were lowered to give the impression this is all happening inside the characters head.

We all view the world differently, it’s unique to each of us.. how would the world differ to those effected by mental health? How would someone with Schizophrenia view the world, paranoia, fear, depression would all change a person’s perception.

Sanity would be questioned, nightmare or reality?
